Madison County High School issued the following announcement on Jan. 27.
MCHS will host its annual poetry contest in the Media Center on Tuesday, February 4, during 2nd and 4th periods.
The purpose of the Poetry Out Loud helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life.
Students choosing a poem to recite, have picked a poem that they really like. The more you like the poem, the more fun you will have learning and reciting it. Whether it’s a funny poem, a serious poem, a sad poem, a sports poem, a spooky poem, a jump-rope rhyme, or even a love poem, if it’s a poem that “speaks to you” – a poem that makes you feel something – you are going to enjoy sharing it with your audience.
So come listen to your MCHS Students recite their poem with a master of a public speaker.
