Women’s Soccer Tabbed Sun Conference Preseason Favorites

The Keiser Seahawks have been voted on as the top Sun Conference team heading into the 2022 season, the league announced on Tuesday. The 2022 Sun Conference Preseason Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Poll was voted on by the conference’s eight head coaches.

The reigning regular season champions Seahawks are coming off their fourth consecutive trip to the NAIA National Championship site in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Top of the League

  • The Seahawks collected the highest possible point total of 64 points, including all eight first-place votes to sit atop the preseason poll.
  • Southeastern was selected to finish second with 54 points, while SCAD-Savannah rounded out the top-3 with 51 points and a first-place vote.

A Look Back at Last Season

  • Finished the season with 16 wins, including nine Sun Conference victories
  • Captured their 16th SUN Regular Season title
  • KU held a 3-2 record against Top 25 teams 
  • Maja Henriksson received the Sun Conference Player of the year honors
  • Had a conference-best nine All-Conference selections, including six on the First Team
  • Three players were named NAIA All-Americans including one First Team member in Henriksson
  • Off the field, 14 athletes were named to the Academic All-Conference team
