On December 21st, 2022, deputies responded to the Park Smart on Global Parkway in reference to a stolen vehicle.

Deputies learned, the suspect, Marisol Cruz (DOB 02/26/1981), had given employees the registration for a vehicle that was parked in the lot and requested to pick up the car.

Park Smart employees told detectives Cruz said she was picking up the car for a friend, but they denied giving her the car because she did not have the required ticket that is given to car owners when they check-in.

Cruz then exited the office and returned a short time later with the ticket from inside the vehicle.

Park Smart employees retrieved the vehicle’s keys and gave the car to Cruz.

The car owner, who was in North Carolina, contacted Park Smart after receiving an email his car was picked up. He told detectives no one had permission to pick up his car while he was gone.

On December 28th, 2022, deputies on patrol located the stolen vehicle driving near U.S. 41 & Daniels Pkwy.

When deputies conducted a traffic stop, Cruz gave a false name and with the use of the fingerprint scanner, Cruz was positively identified.

Multiple tools and several Amazon packages were also located in the car.

Cruz was arrested for grand theft of a motor vehicle and false identification.
