Valiente Set to Join Eagles

Florida SouthWestern righthander Alejandro Valiente will be sticking around Fort Myers for two more years, it just won’t be on the campus of FSW, as the Bucs sophomore has signed to play at Florida Gulf Coast University next season.

Valiente was a member of a pair of Suncoast Conference Championships with the Bucs in 2021 and 2022, pitching in 23 games and going 8-1 the past two seasons.  He logged 67 innings, striking out 74 opposing batters while posting a 4.97 career ERA for FSW.  His .889 career winning percentage on the mound for the Bucs is second best in program history, behind only 2022 teammate and current Cleveland Guardians farmhand Magnus Ellerts while his 8 wins over two seasons is fourth best.

He will join an FGCU squad coming off of a 35-23 campaign with a pair of former Bucs in Joey Mugavero and Gus Carter in the back of their bullpen.

Valiente is the 12th Division I signee and 16th four year signee overall for the Bucs this season, joining Magnus Ellerts (Florida), Ben Peterson (North Carolina), Jose Izarra (Dallas Baptist), Hunter Fitz-Gerald (Old Dominion), Grant Besser (Rutgers), Riley Skeen (South Florida), Matthew Corpas (Florida International), Nicholas Regalado (FGCU), Paxton Tomaini (Dayton) Ronny Medina (Radford), Frank Elissalt & Ronaldo Fernandez (Nova Southeastern), Ben Petschke (Samford), Chase Chatman (St. Thomas), and Kalvin Alexander (Georgia Southwestern).
