The City of Cape Coral kicks off its 2023 hurricane preparedness campaign by debuting a Hurricane Prep Guide.

The first event in the preparedness campaign is an Inaugural Hurricane Expo to be held at Mercola Market on May 31 from 3-7 p.m. The expo aims to assist residents with preparing for the 2023 hurricane season before it begins. Residents can gather official City guidance on emergency management protocols, speak with subject matter experts sharing best practices, and win giveaways to build a hurricane kit.

Today, the Florida Division of Emergency Management announced the Governor's proclamation deeming the first week of May as Florida Hurricane Preparedness Week.

“With less than one month until the start of the 2023 season, the time to prepare is now,” said FDEM Executive Director Kevin Guthrie. “After a very active 2022 season, and the devastating impacts from Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, I encourage all residents and visitors to know your area’s risks, determine if you live in a flood-prone area, and create a comprehensive family evacuation plan.”
