The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers put on a show in front of their home crowd on Tuesday night in Suncoast Credit Union Arena, putting it on the visiting Polk State Eagles to the tune of a 111-56 victory, their fourth straight to improve to 5-3 on the year.
It was all Bucs, all night from the opening tip as FSW scored the first 10 points of the game and quickly stretched their lead to 21-5 on AJ Hopkins second three of the earlygoing. Allen Udemadu pushed the Bucs lead to 27-10 midway through the first half and another 10-0 run for FSW blew the game wide open to 27-12 with 5:38 remaining in the half. The Bucs continued to pour it on as back to back threes from Hopkins and Jadrian Tracey made it 43-16 before a coast to coast drive and dunk from Bradley Douglas put an exclimation point on a 54 point first half for FSW as they took a 54-21 lead over the Eagles into the break at half.
The halftime break did little to slow down the Bucs as they came out in the second half firing on all cylinders again, quickly ballooning their lead to its biggest of the game at 66-26 just 4:17 in. The teams played even the next six minutes, but at the under 10:00 media timeout of the second half, it was still all FSW, leading Polk 79-40. A slam from Allen Udemadu made it a 50 point game in favor of FSW with 6:20 to go and the highlight of the night came with under 2:00 remaining when Mo Abdullah put the Eagles on a poster with a huge and-one dunk to make it 106-51 before the final horn mercifully sounded with the Bucs taking it 111-56.
As expected, the final stat sheet couldn't have had more disparity as FSW finished the game shooting 55% overall from the field as well as hitting on 55% from the three point line while Polk managed just 26% shooting overall and 17% from deep. The Bucs also controlled the boards with a 21 rebound advantage on the glass while also turning 19 Polk turnovers into 25 points in the win.
Seven different FSW players scored in double figures in the victory including Tyson Brown who notched his fifth straight double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Douglas matched his total with 18 points and Udemadu went a perfect 6-6 from the field and scored a career high 15.
FSW wins their fourth straight to improve to 5-3 on the year while Polk falls to 4-4 on the year.
The Bucs are back in action at home on Saturday when they host Gulf Coast State in a 2:00 PM matinee tip from Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
