The Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers rode the hot right arm of Barbara Koehler to a pair of Suncoast Conference victories last week and for her efforts Koehler was named the FCSAA Player of the Week for the third time this season by the state on Monday.
Koehler averaged 4.7 kills and 2.6 digs per set on the week while hitting .343 for the Bucs. Thursday against #14 Hillsborough she led the Bucs with 12 kills in a three set Suncoast Conference sweep over the Hawks. Saturday she was on fire offensively, lighting it up for a career high 21 kills while hitting .500 and also chipping in 13 digs in a 3-1 road win at Eastern Florida State.
Koehler leads the state and ranks fifth nationally averaging 3.95 kills per set on the season. She has registered 10 or more kills in 11 of 14 FSW matches this season.
Koehler was joined on the Player of the Week hierarchy this week by Arianna Rossi who was named the FCSAA Defensive Player of the Week.
Koehler and the Bucs are scheduled to play at home on Saturday against Polk State, but those plans may be on hold due to Hurricane Ian encroaching on Southwest Florida.
