The Sunshine State Conference announced its Women's Preseason Coaches' Poll earlier on Wednesday morning, placing the Sharks fifth in the league. Nova Southeastern earned 70 points in the poll, landing behind Embry-Riddle, Rollins, Florida Tech and Tampa.
Nova Southeastern finished the 2021 campaign with an 8-7-1 record, placing third in the league, and advanced to the Sunshine State Conference tournament in the program's first season under Head Coach James Moore.
The Sharks return a pair of All-SSC team members in Louise Matsgard (first-team) and Chama Silva (second-team), who are looking to lead NSU into the 2022 season. In her freshman year, Matsgard started all 16 games for NSU and tied for the team lead with six goals – including three game-winners – while adding two assists.
Silva made a tremendous leap in 2021, starting all 16 matches, scoring five goals and finishing with a team-leading four assists.
