Lee Commissioners award contract for new shade structures at 10 Parks & Recreation facilities

The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to award a contract for new shade structures at 10 Lee County Parks & Recreation facilities.

The $1.3 million contract with Florida-based Industrial Shadeports, Inc. is to install shade structures at playgrounds and ball fields in the following parks:

Boca Grande Park, 131 1st St., Boca Grande

Charleston Park, 2541 Charleston Park Drive, Alva

Harlem Heights Park, 7340 Concourse Drive, Fort Myers

Lehigh Acres Park, 1400 West 5th St., Lehigh Acres

Manatee Park, 10901 State Road 80, Fort Myers

Mary Moody Park, 915 Lakeview Drive, North Fort Myers

Olga Park, 2325 South Olga Drive

Rutenberg Park, 6500 South Pointe Blvd., Fort Myers

Three Oaks Park, 18251 Three Oaks Parkway, Fort Myers

Veterans Park, 55 Homestead Road South, Lehigh Acres

The work is scheduled to be completed in Fiscal Year 2022/2023. The structures are designed to provide relief and comfort to park patrons. The Lee Board of County Commissioners’ Strategic Priorities includes increasing park amenities. Commissioners in December approved shade structures at seven other parks sites.

Construction is expected to begin this week at several Lee County libraries, including Bonita Springs, North Fort Myers and East County Regional libraries and a project is being planned for Lakes Regional Library. The library shade structures are designed to provide a comfortable shaded area for library programming for all ages, an outdoor reading area and a gathering space for patrons.
