Keiser University senior pitcher, Michael Cabeza signed with the Boise Hawks of the Pioneer Baseball League. The league is based out of the Rocky Mountain region and is not directly affiliated with Major League Baseball, however, it is a designated MLB Partner League.
Cabeza, a native of Miami, Florida, appeared in 20 games for the Seahawks, making five starts. In his only season with the Seahawks, Cabeza went 4-4 with 53 strikeouts in 55.2 innings pitched. His 53 Ks were the third-most on the team this season. Cabeza made his Keiser debut earlier this season versus Mobile (Ala.), striking out a season-high nine batters (1/28). He earned his first win as a Seahawk on February 11 versus Brewton-Parker, striking out four in the team's 11-1 victory. His fourth win of the season was over the No. 1-ranked Southeastern Fire as the Seahawks clinched the series win.
"Mike was a bulldog for us this year," Head Coach Brook Fordyce said. "He served the Seahawks in many rolls as a starter as long relief and as a closer. He always took the ball no matter what. We wish Michael all the best on his next journey."
