This summer, the City of Cape Coral’s Parks & Recreation Department is teaming up with the School District of Lee County and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to host a Summer BreakSpot Kickoff event at Paul Sanborn Park (2310 SE 3rd St.) on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
The kickoff event will feature the Cape Coral Parks and Recreation Fun-Mobile, on-site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. offering free games and activities, including craft projects and basketball or soccer with a Cape Coral Police Officer. The School District of Lee County will be providing free lunches to children and youth aged 18 and under from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Free lunches for children and youth will continue throughout the summer at Paul Sanborn Park from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. every weekday, June 7 through July 29 (excluding the July 4th holiday). The Cape Coral Fun-Mobile will offer free recreational activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. by the Cape Coral Fun-Mobile.
The BreakSpot program is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Participating sites provide nutritionally balanced meals to children and youth during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are unavailable. Meals are offered at no cost, and there are no income or registration requirements.
