County of Lee recently issued the following announcement.
Lee Commissioners voted Tuesday to accept two grants awarded to the Animal Care Trust Fund, which provides funds for domestic animals who have medical needs beyond basic
care. The awarded grants total about $59,000.
Lee County Domestic Animal Services was awarded a Rachael Ray Save Them All grant from Best Friends Animal Society in the amount of $40,000. The grant will be used to
provide lifesaving initiatives for the stray animals of Lee County when they need additional medical care beyond the capacity of LCDAS.
A grant of $19,166.45 was awarded by the Dr. Harvey & Nora Krieger Endowment Fund – a fund of the Collaboratory – to be used toward general operation of the services
provided by the Animal Care Trust Fund.
The Lee County Animal Care Trust Fund was established in 2002 to provide specialized care and services to stray domestic animals of
Lee County. The Animal Care Trust Fund and the care that LCDAS has been able to provide has allowed for more than 300 animals to be reunited with their owners or allow for
them to be adopted.

Donations of any amount to the fund are welcome. All donations are tax-deductible. All funds are reserved by the trust exclusively for the needs of the animals in the community.
