8

Nova Southeastern University recently issued the following announcement.

NSU to host “Be a Shark, Brave for the Shave” Event to Benefit St. Baldrick’s Foundation

WHO:              Students in the class of 2024 and 2025 of NSU’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine

WHAT:            Shaving Heads to Help Children with Cancer Event

WHERE:           NSU’s Tampa Bay Regional Campus, 3400 Gulf to Bay Dr., Clearwater

WHEN:            4-8 p.m. Saturday, April 2

WHY:               The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is the largest, non-governmental child cancer research foundation in the United States, and their mission is to bridge the gap between

funds needed to drive research and the funds currently available. As students in NSU’s Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine, they understand the burden of

cancer physically and psychologically, and with this fundraiser their goal is to contribute toward continued research and help current and future children and their families. As future

physicians, NSU’s students will deal with the direct and indirect consequences of childhood cancer in some way, shape or form in whatever specialty they decide to pursue or in our

own personal lives.

This event will have a DJ, food trucks, giveaways and lots of fun in support of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. All of the student cutting their hair, shaving their heads and their

supporters have been fundraising for this organization for more than a month have raised approximately $8,000 to benefit of the foundation.
