County of Lee recently issued the following announcement.
Lee County Domestic Animal Services will host its annual Kitten Shower from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 26, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers.
Animal Services is in need of volunteers to provide foster homes for underage kittens and puppies or a nursing mother plus her litter. There will be a seminar for people interested in the pet foster care program. The first three volunteers who take fosters will receive a free foster swag kit. Attendees also can participate in games and win prizes.
Another way to participate is to donate. Items needed include baby blankets, water bowls, kitten nursing bottles, flat dishes, digital thermometers, cat beds, Dawn dish soap, cat nail trimmers and Royal Canin baby cat food. The items may be brought to the shelter the day of the shower or during regular business hours.
The Kitten Shower is held each spring, which is when most cats begin their breeding cycle.
Adoptable pets can be viewed online at www.LeeLostPets.com and applications can also be filled out in advance of the kitten shower.
