Lee County recently issued the following announcement.
Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to award BSSW Architects, Inc. an architectural services contract for renovations to the South County Regional Library.
BSSW Architects, Inc. will provide professional architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing design services. There will be multiple opportunities for public
input during the 11-month design process. After completion of the design and bidding process, the Board will vote on the construction contract at a public meeting. The project is expected to be completed in 2024.
The South County Regional Library became the County’s first regional library in 1996. Due to the age and configuration of the building, renovations are needed to provide the
Estero community with a library better suited to meet their current needs. During fiscal year 2018-19, the South County Regional Library saw more than 229,000 visitors and
checked out over 534,000 items.
The planned renovations for the library include an automated material handler, upgraded building systems, reconfiguration of the interior to better serve the public and the staff,
ADA upgrades, a new roof and site improvements.
The Lee County Library System, founded in 1964, has 13 branches to serve Lee County residents. For more information about library services and programs, call 239-479-4636 or
