6

Florida Southwestern State College issued the following announcement on Dec. 14.

Florida SouthWestern State backstop Kalvin Alexander will move up a letter in the alphabet next season after signing at Georgia Southwestern State University where he will go from playing for the FSW Bucs in 2021-2022 to the GSW Hurricanes in 2022-2023.

Alexander is in his third season with the Bucs this season, entering the 2022 campaign with a .373 career slugging percentage in 50 contests.  As a rookie in 2020 he played in 19 games in the Bucs Covid shortened season, hitting .200 with a homer and 3 RBIs while going a perfect 7 for 7 in stolen base attempts.  Last season he played in 31 ballgames, clubbing a pair of home runs and again going perfect in 9 stolen base attempts on the year.

Georgia Southwestern was 19-21 last season, going 16-17 in Peach Belt Conference play.

Alexander is the sixth signee for the Bucs this fall, joining Magnus Ellerts (Florida), Grant Besser (Rutgers), Matthew Corpas (Florida International), Riley Skeen (South Florida), and Frank Elissalt (Nova Southeastern).

Alexander and the Bucs kick off the 2022 season on January 28th when they host ASA Miami in the Marissa Gusto Memorial Tournament at Terry Park in Downtown Fort Myers.
