Nova Southeastern University issued the following announcement on Dec. 9.
Selected among the four programs competing at this week's NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship, Nova Southeastern's Henrik Berg has been recognized as the recipient of the Elite 90 award.
Berg is the first NSU student-athlete to receive the honor since former women's basketball player Megan Piggott did so back in March of 2019.
A graduate student, Berg completed his bachelor's degree in Management with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.96, and is now pursuing his graduate certificate in Finance.
The ELITE 90, an award founded by the NCAA, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. The Elite 90 is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
Eligible student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically in the sport for which they are being nominated, and in at least his or her second year (in any sport) at his or her current institution.
