Nova Southeastern University recently issued the following announcement.
Freshman midfielder finished 2021 with six goals and two assists
Adding to her stellar freshman campaign, Nova Southeastern's Louise Matsgard has been selected as a member of the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Women's Soccer All-South Region second team.
Voting was conducted by the region's sports information directors.
A First Team All-Sunshine State Conference pick, Matsgard made a significant impact in her first year in a Shark uniform. Starting all 16 games, the midfielder matched a team high with six goals, including three-game winners, to go along with a pair of assists across a combined 1,284 minutes – second-most on the team. The Swede was held without a goal throughout the first seven matches of the season, yet found her stride in the thick of SSC play, lighting up opponents for all six scores in a span of eight games. Matsgard was twice recognized as the SSC Offensive Player of the Week.
Bailey Tadlock of Christian Brothers collected the award as South Region Player of the Year.
NSU concluded its season in the SSC Tournament quarterfinals with a final record of 8-7-1. To stay up-to-date with the Sharks, follow them on Instagram and Twitter at @NSU_WSoccer.
