Men's Hoops Runs Through Warriors

Barry University recently issued the following announcement.

The Barry Buccaneer men's basketball team extended their unbeaten streak to four games after running through the Nyack Warriors 104-89 on Monday, Nov. 22.

WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:

SUMMARY:

  • 1H - The Bucs came out of the gates on fire, running out to 9-0 lead in just two and a half minutes before a Landon Kirkwood bomb from downtown forced a Warriors timeout. Kirkwood would go on to knock in two more triples in the half. | Barry 55, Nyack 42
  • 2H - Michael Schaefer dominated down low in the second half, recording 14 points on 5-6 shooting. Schaefer scored two of those buckets on second-chance opportunity. All-in-all, the junior had four offensive rebounds in the second half. An 8-0 run in the games final-minutes sealed the deal for the Bucs. | Barry 107, FSC 93
NOTEWORTHY:

  • Nick Anderson led the Bucs in scoring with 22, followed by Schaefer with 19. Schaefer also grabbed 12 boards.
  • Kirkwood recorded 17 points on a perfect 6-6 shooting from the field including a blistering 4-4 from three-point territory.
  • Jake Kakar had a solid all-around perforamnce with 11 points, five assists, and four rebounds
  • Barry once again was solid off the pine, recording 43 bench points. 
  • This season marks the third time that the Bucs have scored over 100 points in three straight games. In 1990-91, they opened the season with three straight games over 100 in wins over Plattsburg State (112), Wingate (120) and Trinity (112). In 2015-16, they topped the century mark in three straight conference games against Saint Leo (102), Palm Beach Atlantic (116) and Florida Tech (104).

Next up for the Bucs is a trip to Opa Locka, FL. to take on Florida Memorial on Saturday, Nov 27.
