The Seahawks remained unbeaten and atop the Sun Conference Standings following a 0-0 (2OT) draw at (rv) Southeastern on Wednesday night. The Seahawks controlled most
of the game, out-shooting the Fire, 28-8.
HOW IT HAPPENED
.Despite out-shooting the Fire in the first half, 10-5, KU enter halftime deadlocked at 0-0.
The Seahawks increased their pressure on the Fire defense, posting 15 shots and forcing SEU goalkeeper Carlos Curado to make five saves in the second half.
After 90 minutes of action, neither team got on the board, resulting in the first overtime match of the season for the Seahawks.
KU made three attempts combined in both overtime periods but were unable to break the tie, resulting in the 0-0 final.
Alvaro Jimenez Valera led the team with eight total shots, including four on net.
Luca Malvicini - the reigning Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Week - posted seven total shots (two on frame).
Goalkeeper Dario Salzer (2-0-1, 0.31 GAA), this week Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week, notched his second shutout of the season.
The clean sheet was the fourth of Salzer's KU career.
The shutout also marked the sixth of the season for the Seahawks.
For the match, KU held a 28-8 edge in total shots and a 9-2 advantage in shots on goal.
GAME NOTES
The tie was the first of the season for the Seahawks.
It marked the first overtime match for KU this season. The Seahawks are now 21-12-16 all-time in overtime games.
With tonight's draw, KU remains unbeaten in Sun Conference action (5-0-1) and sits in a first-place tie with St. Thomas in the league standings.
With the tie, Keiser moves to 13-6-3 all-time versus the Fire.
The tie extends the Seahawks current unbeaten streak versus the Fire to four games.
The tie moves Keiser to 6-0-1 away from Ariggo-Vecellio Field this season.
