Lee County issued the following announcement on Oct. 5.
The Lee Board of County Commissioners voted Tuesday to launch a pilot program for Mobility On Demand Transit service in the Bonita Springs area.
The new ULTRA On Demand Transit service will feature a mini-bus that will take riders anywhere within three-fourths of a mile from the existing Route 150, which will no longer
operate as a fixed route. The On Demand service will be available 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week. Passengers can use a mobile application or the telephone to schedule a
ride rather than wait for fixed-route service. Service is scheduled to begin in January and rides will cost $1.50. ULTRA On Demand service will not replace ADA Passport service,
which will still be available to those who qualify. On Demand service will support LeeTran’s fixed route services by connecting Bonita area riders to the 600 LinC route, which goes
into Collier County, as well as the Route 410 with service to Lovers Key State Park. This new service is available to anyone within the designated service zone and on a first-come,
first-serve basis. This service will use a scheduling and tracking software so riders can see where their vehicle is in real time. LeeTran has held community outreach meetings in
the Bonita Springs area and more are being planned. Additional information is available on LeeTran buses in the area and at Lee County’s Bonita Springs Public Library, 10560
Reynolds St. Additional information is also available at www.leegov.com/leetran/about-leetran/current-projects/ultra. Transitioning to an On Demand service will offer more
convenience to riders and will save the county about $300,000 annually in public funds. To learn more about LeeTran or to follow service related updates, please visit the agency’s
