Plan now to enjoy two events planned for Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center and Park

Lee County issued the following announcement on Sept. 27.

Make plans now to attend two free events offered at Wa-Ke Hatchee Recreation Center and Park, 16760 Bass Road.

The events are:

Protect Yourself Workshop

The Protect Yourself Presentation hosted by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. Presenters will cover how to keep yourself safe when faced with security threats, fraud, scams, residential security and situations where your personal safety is compromised. You will not only learn on how to react when these threats arise but how to prevent situations from occurring in the first place. This demonstration is free to the public and there is no registration required. No matter your age, there

Halloween Party in the Park at Wa-Ke Hatchee

Lee County Parks & Recreation is hosting, “Halloween Party in the Park” The event will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at Wa-Ke Hatchee Park. There will be a Costume Contest available for ages 15 and under, various food truck options, a photo booth, games and more. At 7 p.m. the showing of the classic PG-rated film, “Hocus Pocus,” will begin. The film follows a comedic trio of witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem, Massachusetts on

Halloween night. The movie will be shown on the front lawn. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or
