Barry University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
Liberty Del Rosario joins the Barry University women's basketball coaching staff this fall, director of athletics Michael L. Covone announced today.
An experienced and seasoned professional at many levels of collegiate coaching, Del Rosario has appeared in four NCAA Division I national tournaments plus the WNIT, NAIA and Division II tournaments. In addition to team accomplishments, Del Rosario has also assisted in tremendous individual development for her athletes, highlighted by the five league player-of-the-year awards her pupils have claimed across the seven different conferences in which she has coached.
Del Rosario was most recently the assistant coach at East Tennessee State, where she helped mentor Jakhya Davis and Carlyse Hooks, members of the Southern Conference All-Rookie Team. Prior to ESTU, she was the WBCA Division II National Assistant Coach of the Year at Virginia Union, where she helped lead the Panthers to the CIAA regular season and tournament titles, before making a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
Rosario had also had stops at Niagara, Winthrop, Eastern Michigan, Morgan State, Cleveland State, Agnes Scott, and Notre Dame College in Ohio.
Del Rosario was a two-year letterwinner at Notre Dame College, graduating with a bachelor's degree in psychology in 2002, later earning a master's degree in education with a specialization in sports management from Cleveland State in 2005. She is a 15-year member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and nine-year member of the Asian Coaches Association.
