Volleyball Wins Thriller Against Florida Tech

Barry University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 18.

The Bucs move to 6-0 on the season.

The Bucs fought tooth-and-nail to come out victorious over the Florida Tech Panthers in a five-set thriller on Saturday, Sep. 18.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

Final: Barry 3, Florida Tech 2

Records: Barry (6-0, 2-0 SSC), Florida Tech (0-10, 0-2 SSC)

All-Time Series: Barry leads 49-8 

SUMMARY:

1st set | Florida Tech scored four of the last five points of the set to take the first frame over the Bucs. | Florida Tech 28, Barry 26

2nd set | The Panthers continued their momentum, starting the set on an 8-4 run before the Bucs came back with a 4-1 run of their own. Bianca Pasca was able to seal the set with a sneaky attack on a dig from Luana Bulara. | Barry 25, Florida Tech 20

3rd set | Florida Tech took the third set after the Bucs posted a -0.022 hitting percentage. | Florida Tech 25, Barry 20

4th set | Four kills in the middle of the set from Jennifer Collazo put the Bucs in the drivers seat and they finished the set strong without looking back. | Barry 25, Florida Tech 18

5th set | Djuly Schmorantz recorded back-to-back kills to finish off the Panthers. | Barry 15, Florida Tech 11

NOTEWORTHY:.

Collazo and Schmorantz both recorded double-doubles.

Schmorantz led the Bucs with 17 kills.

Monica Lopez recorded an astounding 31 digs for the Bucs.

Barry logged 62 kills and a .200 hitting percentage compared to 53 kills and a .140 percentage for the Panthers.

ON THE HORIZON:

The Bucs are on the road again, traveling to Tampa, FL. to take on the Tampa Spartans on Friday, Sep. 24.
