Barry University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 20.
Emily Stasi joins the rowing staff in the fall of 2021 after a rowing career at West Virginia University, director of athletics Michael L. Covone announced.
Stasi rowed for the Mountaineers from 2014-17, leading them to the Big 12 Regatta all three years, before missing her senior year due to injury. She was a member of the 2015 second V8+ that won the Petite Final at the Big 12 championship and the Knecht Cup. As a sophomore in 2016, she rowed the first V8+ to the Petite Final at the Big 12 and a second-place finish at the Head of the Ohio. As a junior, she was a CRCA Scholar Athlete and earned Academic All-Big 12 First Team. She led the first V8+ to a win in the Petite Final at the Big 12 Regatta. She was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and volunteered with WVU Children's Hospital, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Ronald McDonald House.
She has helped coach novice rowing programs in her native New Jersey over the summers from WVU.
She spent the last three years working in Miami for such firms as Urban Products Group, Nike and Carnival Cruise Lines. She was selected as coach of Nike's community outreach program called Marathon Kids in Miami, as well as being an official pacer for Nike Run Club.
She graduated from West Virginia in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in multidisciplinary studies with minors in sport psychology, business and communications.
