City of Fort Myers recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Fort Myers is requesting public comments prior to submitting a grant application for the Rebuild Florida General Infrastructure Program (GIP) administered by the State
of Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO). This Program is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block
Grant - Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) allocation as described in Public Law 115-123, and $175,000,000 is available during this funding cycle. The City of Fort Myers is requesting
$12,472,100 of GIP funding to complete a replacement of the State Road 80 bridge over Billy’s Creek. The proposed project will include the replacement of the Billy’s Creek bridge
and will improve the transportation network for all modes of travel between downtown and the Interstate 75 corridor. The project will take approximately 36 months to complete.
