Florida SouthWestern State College issued the following announcement on July 26.
Florida SouthWestern State Head Coach Ben Bizier has added another prized recruit for the 2021-2022 season, but this time it is for his Buccaneers coaching staff as the fourth year head man has announced that Bryan Liriano will join the club as an Assistant Coach this season.
Liriano comes to Fort Myers after spending the summer coaching in the Great Lakes Collegiate League where he worked as the pitching coach for the Michigan Monarchs.
As a player Liriano made stops at the NJCAA, NCAA Division 1 and NCAA Division 2 levels. He played his freshman season at the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore where he appeared in 18 games for the Hawks. He transferred to the juco ranks for his sophomore campaign where he helped USC Salkehatchie to the Region X Tournament. He wrapped up his career at Newberry College where he led the Wolves to a top 20 ranking as a junior and finished his college career by helping Newberry to an appearance in the South Atlantic Conference Championship game.
Liriano will join an FSW program coming off of back to back Suncoast Conference Championships in 2019 and 2021. The Bucs put together their best year in their young program history this season, going 44-16 while earning their first two wins at the FCSAA State Tournament and watching as four players were drafted in the top 13 rounds of the Major League Baseball Draft and six current or former players in total were signed to contracts with MLB organizations.
