City of Cape Coral issued the following announcement on July 20.
The City is partnering with Waste Pro and Lee County’s Solid Waste Division to collect bulk items and household chemical waste (HCW) at a disposal event on Saturday, August 7 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event will be held in the City Hall parking lot (1015 Cultural Park Boulevard).
These quarterly events provide another option to residents for the removal of large items as well as a safe and responsible way to dispose of HCW. Residential bulk item collection is available each week. Bulk items are collected one service day after trash and recycling containers are emptied.
Items that will be accepted at the event include:
Drain cleaners
Pool chemicals
Pesticides/herbicides
Liquid paint and thinners
Polishes and strippers
Fluorescent tubes
Electronics
Car and boat batteries
Auto oil
Gas propane tanks
Appliances
Mattresses
Yard Waste
The County’s HCW and electronics recycling facility is located in Fort Myers (6441 Topaz Court) and is open Monday through Friday, and the first Saturday of each month.
Materials for drop-off will be collected from trunks of vehicles and the beds of trucks. Proof of residency may be required to drop off items. Proof of residency may include photo identification with a Cape Coral address or photo identification and a utility bill, with an active Cape Coral utility account.
