City of Bonita Springs issued the following announcement.
Council has approved moving forward with a sub-recipient agreement with Lee County that would provide the city with additional funding for the Covid-19 pandemic. The additional funding of $206,313 will be provided through Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) entitlement program and is income-based, meaning the funding will be allocated to programs that assist families with an income of less than 80% of the Area Median Income.
The city plans to direct these funds towards the support of local food pantries to provide food security assistance for the community.
