North Florida College issued the following announcement.
North Florida College’s commercial trucking program is helping students train quickly, in just 12 weeks, for in-demand jobs that have staying power in today’s workforce.
“With the pandemic and economic crisis, a lot of people are out of jobs, but you see the trucks are still rolling and moving,” said NFC student Jakarti Brown.
NFC student Travis Corbin also sees the program as a way to open new doors, now and down the line. “I needed to improve my financial situation and well being for my family and myself. With this training I hope to one day have my own truck, maybe multiple trucks.”
Scott Wheeler says he is excited about where a career in trucking can take him. “What I find most interesting about the career is the open possibilities and not being confined to a certain area. My goal is to stay local while my kids are in school and then I look forward to going over the road so I can see the country.”
NFC plans to begin a new class Jan. 8, 2021. Students must register by Nov. 20. CareerSource North Florida will accept financial aid applications for the program through Nov. 13. Visit www.nfc.edu or email smithh@nfc.edu for information.
