More than 25 churches nationwide are expected to hold job fairs in November as part of the Nationwide Day of Second Chances. | Pixabay
The Nationwide Day of Second Chances originally scheduled for April 30, has been rescheduled for Nov. 12, due to the uncertainty and potential for illness during the spread of the novel coronavirus.
More than 25 churches are scheduled to hold 20 simultaneous job fairs, aimed at helping individuals who have been incarcerated to find new work that can make a difference in their lives. These fairs will take place in Atlanta, Chicago, Jacksonville, Fla, Miami, Omaha, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and a dozen other locations.
Participating churches include:

- Centerpoint Community Church
- Christian Ridge Church of God
- Church of Eleven22
- Citylight Midtown
- Compass Christian Church
- Cornerstone Church West End
- First Baptist Church
- First Presbyterian Church
- First United Methodist Church
- Hope of Glory
- Light of the World Christian Tabernacle
- Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church
- New Birth Baptist Church Cathedral of Faith International
- New Zion Baptist Church
- Rome Alliance Church
- Second Congregational Church
- St. John Free Will Baptist Church
- St. Joseph Cathedral
- The Vile Church
- Turning Point Church
- Waverly Place Baptist Church
- White Lily Baptist Church
The goal of these Second Chances Job Fairs is to serve 50,000 individuals on that day.
A news release notes that four organizations have partnered with Better Together to make the Day of Second Chances a success, including Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM); Prison Fellowship; Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association (CMCA); and Jobs for Life.
Between now and Nov. 12, Better Together and partner organizations will work with church partners to have this event make as big an impact as possible.
