Nova Southeastern University issued the following announcement.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, after careful consideration and in an abundance of caution, officials have decided to cancel the 2020 statewide Holocaust Reflection Contest Event at Nova Southeastern University. When considering the potential risk of people becoming ill and unknowingly spreading the virus further, no matter how small that risk may be, the decision became very clear.
The event was planned for Sunday, March 15. Notification is going out to the winning students, schools and advisers today about the cancellation.
This decision was based on recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local and state health officials as we look at ways to keep our community safe and healthy. While we are saddened we will not have the opportunity to publicly recognize these outstanding students from across Florida, it was decided that canceling the event it is in the best interest of everyone involved.
