Soccer fields at three parks in Cape Coral will be closed this summer for routine rest, maintenance, and major field renovations, according to a May 18 announcement. The closures are part of ongoing efforts to maintain the quality of the playing surfaces and ensure safe conditions for all users.
The city said that Pelican Soccer Complex is currently closed through July 27, with two fields scheduled for complete renovations. At the Cape Coral Sports Complex, soccer fields are also closed through July 27 as three fields undergo full renovation work. Jim Jeffers Soccer Complex will close its soccer facilities from May 25 through August 10.
Other amenities at these locations—including playgrounds, walking paths, and recreational features—will remain open to the public during the closure period. Baseball and softball outfields at these sites can still be reserved and may be used for soccer activities upon request by leagues or community groups.
These closures are intended to help preserve field quality in advance of future seasons while offering alternative spaces so that local teams can continue their activities. The city has not provided additional details about specific improvements but confirmed that access to other park features will not be affected.
Looking ahead, residents can expect improved playing conditions once the renovations are completed later this summer.
