The Sunshine State Conference announced the 2022 All-SSC Women’s Tennis teams earlier this afternoon. Julie Razafindranaly was honored as the SSC Athlete of the Year, while Head Coach Doug Neagle earned his third consecutive Sunshine State Conference Coach of the Year award.

Voting for the All-SSC teams was conducted among the league’s women’s tennis coaches.

Razafindranaly, a graduate student from Bretagne, France, went an incredible 15-1 in singles competition for the spring season. Razafindranaly accumulated a record of 12-1 at the No. 1 spot for the Sharks, while also going 3-0 as the No. 2. In doubles action, Razafindranaly teamed with Diane Follin-Arbelet, Zala Dovnik and Nika Kozar throughout the season, finishing with a 15-7 combined record.

Razafindranaly becomes the second consecutive Shark to win the Athlete of the Year award, third overall, joining teammate Natalie Espinal (2021) and Luicelena Perez (2017).

Neagle guided the Sharks to a 20-3 record during the 2022 season, en route to his third consecutive Sunshine State Coach of the Year honor. Nova Southeastern earned an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) No. 1 ranking, placed second in the SSC during the regular season, and finished as the runner-up at the Sunshine State Conference tournament championship.

Nova Southeastern placed five student-athletes on the All-Sunshine State Conference teams, including two on the First-Team for singles, a pair on the doubles first-team and one on the second-team for singles. SSC Athlete of the Year, Razafindranaly is joined on the first-team by Natalie Espinal. Espinal earns her third first-team singles recognition of her NSU career, having previously been recognized in 2021 and 2019.

Espinal is also a member of the 2022 first-team in doubles, joined by Chantal Nosievici. Karolina Snita earned second-team honors in singles competition, earning SSC recognition for the second time in her career (2021 First-Team).

Nova Southeastern was selected as a host for the NCAA Regional tournament, which is set to begin on Friday, May 6. The Sharks, making their ninth NCAA tournament appearance, take on Benedict in the first round from the NSU Tennis Complex at 9 a.m. To stay up to date on the Sharks tournament run, follow on Instagram & Twitter at @NSU_WTennis.
