HOW IT HAPPENED (Game One)

1ST INNING – Left-hander Carlos Rey made his second start of the season for the Sharks and struck out two of the first three hitters he faced to open the game.

6TH INNING – The pitchers’ duel continued through five innings, as both starting pitchers traded shutout frames. The Sharks broke the scoreless tie in the sixth, taking advantage of a Florida Southern error which allowed Michael Avendano to reach safely. Daniel Irisarri came through with two outs in the inning, singling to centerfield and scoring Avendano from second base.

Rey maintained the momentum for the Sharks, setting down FSC in order in the bottom of the sixth inning.

8TH INNING – Rey worked into the eighth, recording the first two outs before Stephen Schissler entered in relief for the Sharks following a walk. Schissler retired the first man he faced, keeping the Moccasins off the scoreboard.

9TH INNING – Alex Hernandez broke the game open, following an Adam Frank single and Adam Smith walk, with his seventh home run of the season, putting the score at 4-0.

Michael Dillon recorded the final two outs, sealing the Sharks series victory.

GAME TWO

1ST INNING – NSU wasted little time getting on the scoreboard in the series finale, as Adan Fernandez drove in Frank with an RBI ground-out. FSC responded with a run of their own in the bottom half, tying the contest at 1-1.

3RD INNING – Fernandez put the Sharks back in front with an RBI single, scoring Tyler Epstein to reclaim the Sharks advantage. Cooper Omans set the Moccasins down in order in the bottom half of the inning.

7TH INNING – The Sharks remained in the lead until the seventh inning, as Florida Southern came through with a two-out single to tie the game at 2-2.

8TH INNING – FSC took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning with a three-run homer, putting the score at 5-2.

9TH INNING – Nova Southeastern had back-to-back singles to open the final inning, bringing the tying run to the plate, but the Sharks were unable to score, dropping the series finale 5-2.
