The City of Cape Coral reminds residents of the Residential Rental Property Registration Ordinance, which requires that all residential structures with four units or fewer that are leased or rented must be registered.

Properties exempt from registration include:

  • Rental properties owned by federal, state, or local housing programs
  • HUD
  • Hotels and motels
  • Any residential facility licensed and inspected by the state of Florida that doesn’t have owner-occupied units.

There is a one-time registration fee of $35. Failure to register violates the ordinance and may result in fines. See the Rental Registration Brochure for details required to register.

Those with questions on rental property registration should contact Carol Rall at crall@capecoral.gov or (239) 574-0624.
