Welcome to the Operation Pedro Pan – The Living Legacy Exhibit at Barry University. Immerse yourself in a powerful and moving experience of photography, documents and artifacts that tell the story of one of the most significant events in South Florida’s history.

Come and learn about the story of 14,000 Cuban children who arrived in Miami between 1960 and 1962 during a period of government transition. Discover the legacy of these children who have gone on to make significant contributions to South Florida and the rest of our country. As the only exhibit of its kind on a college campus, Living Legacy offers a unique and insightful glimpse into this pivotal moment in history.

The exhibit celebrates the Pedro Pan participants with the Legacy Wall of Honor, and it allows visitors to share their own stories of immigration. The Living Legacy Exhibit is free to all and open until September at Barry University’s Monsignor Barry Memorial Library. This exhibit is part of the Institute for Immigration Studies’ (IIS) efforts to promote education and understanding of the South Florida immigrant experience by preserving stories, artifacts, and traditions.

We would love for you to visit and experience the Living Legacy Exhibit at Barry University. For groups, schools or private tours, please contact IIS Director Dr. Giselle Rios at grios@barry.edu to schedule a tour. The exhibit is made possible by the generosity of Sunshine Gasoline Distributors, The Bacardi Corporation, The Padron Foundation and the Shepard Broad Foundation.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to engage with the story of Operation Pedro Pan and the legacy of the children involved. The Living Legacy Exhibit is located at Barry’s main campus — 11300 NE 2nd Ave Miami Shores, Florida 33161.
