Olivia Black and Sietske Drijvers earned third-team all-ASUN recognition, while Julia Bacoulis and Mackenzie Leiti were named to the ASUN All-Freshman team, according to a May 5 announcement by the conference.
The awards highlight notable achievements for Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) athletes during the current softball season. These recognitions reflect individual excellence in both offensive and defensive play among Eagles players.
Sietske Drijvers received all-conference honors in her only season in the Atlantic Sun Conference. She ranks third nationally with 17 runners caught stealing, setting a new FGCU program record. Drijvers also leads everyday catchers in the conference with a 34.69% caught-stealing rate and maintains a .986 fielding percentage. Offensively, she has reached base in 17 consecutive games during March, holds a .472 on-base percentage, and leads FGCU with nine doubles.
Olivia Black secured her second straight all-conference selection after becoming just the seventh player in ASUN history to record at least 100 stolen bases; she currently has 101. Black holds the FGCU career Division I stolen base record and completed this season’s conference play without being caught stealing. She also boasts a perfect fielding percentage over 51 starts in center field this year.
Freshman pitcher Julia Bacoulis led FGCU with 82 strikeouts—sixth most in the conference—and posted strong performances including an eight-inning complete game win over Stetson. Her strikeout numbers are among the best ever by an FGCU freshman pitcher. Mackenzie Leiti led all ASUN freshmen with seven home runs and drove in a team-high 32 runs this season as one of FGCU’s top power hitters.
FGCU enters postseason play as the fifth seed and will face eighth-seeded Austin Peay today at 2:30 p.m., according to information provided by university athletics officials.
