Florida Gulf Coast University softball had four student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team, according to a May 27 announcement from the university.
Olivia Black, who was previously recognized as ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year, was joined by Victoria Ash, Nikki Gibson and Sophie Wylie on the All-District list. Black earned her distinction with a perfect grade point average in forensic studies, marking the first time an FGCU softball player has received the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.
The CSC Academic All-District Softball teams honor top student-athletes for their achievements both on the field and in academics. The program recognizes honorees across NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels. Those selected for Academic All-District are eligible for advancement to the national ballot for CSC Academic All-America consideration.
Student-athletes advancing as finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will be considered by CSC members for first-, second- or third-team Academic All-America honors. Winners will be announced on June 16. Nominees must have at least a 3.50 GPA and meet high athletic standards; they are put forward by communications directors at their respective institutions.
