The Florida League of Cities annually awards the E. Harris Drew Lifetime Municipal Achievement Award, which honors an elected official who has performed in an outstanding manner and has made an unusual and lasting contribution to the improvement of municipal government. Councilman Purdon asked council to approve nominating Council Member Mike Gibson for his 8+ years of dedicated service to the City of Bonita Springs. His contributions include advocating for heightened awareness and safety for bicyclists/pedestrians, his support for numerous multimodal improvements throughout the City, and his outreach and educational events within the community, such as Bike Month, Walk/Bike to Work Day, Safe Routes to School, helmet fittings, safety tutorials, etc. Additionally, he has represented the interests of the downtown business community and residents throughout the redevelopment of our downtown corridor. Council approved of the nomination.
