Florida Gulf Coast tops North Florida 2-1 behind Ash’s relief pitching

Florida Gulf Coast Eagles secured a 2-1 win against the North Florida Ospreys in their NCAA Division I softball matchup Saturday, March 28, at 4 p.m. Former Bishop Verot Catholic High School Inc. standout Victoria Ash currently plays for Florida Gulf Coast.

The contest, the first of the season between the Eagles and Ospreys, was held at the FGCU Softball Complex.

Ash pitched two innings with four walks allowed.

Florida Gulf Coast will next face the Ospreys again at 6:30 p.m., also at FGCU Softball Complex.

Florida Gulf Coast University earned its sixth straight win by defeating West Georgia 10-5 at Swanson Stadium. Jon Embury and Jaret Nelson both hit home runs as FGCU’s offense produced timely scoring throughout its lineup. The Eagles move closer to first place ahead of their next matchup.
