Florida Gulf Coast University secured the No. 3 seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming Atlantic Sun Conference Baseball Tournament, according to a May 17 announcement from the league office.
The seeding follows FGCU’s finish as second place in the Graphite Division, with an overall record of 34-20 and a conference record of 17-12. The Eagles will begin their tournament run on Wednesday, May 20 at 6 p.m., facing either No. 6 Central Arkansas or No. 8 Stetson, who play each other in a single-elimination first round on May 19.
FGCU swept Stetson during the regular season, winning all five games before weather canceled their sixth meeting. The Eagles did not face Central Arkansas this year due to no cross-divisional play but have a history against both teams: they are currently 3-4 against Stetson and hold a single win over Central Arkansas from last year’s tournament.
A victory for FGCU would advance them to the double elimination stage where they would meet No. 2 Lipscomb, co-champions of the Gold Division who earned their spot by winning tiebreakers over North Alabama after taking both regular-season series between those teams.
North Florida holds the top overall seed for this year’s event hosted by Stetson at Melching Field at Conrad Park in DeLand—marking the eleventh time since FGCU joined ASUN that Stetson has served as host. Tickets for sessions beginning May 19 through May 23 remain available online, with general admission starting at $18 per session and full-tournament passes starting at $56.
