For the third consecutive season, the FGCU men’s basketball team was honored with multiple student-athletes recognized on the NABC Honors Court for the 2021-22 campaign. The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) highlights collegiate basketball players who have excelled the prior season in the classroom with the Honors Court distinction.

Representing FGCU were Caleb Catto, Carlos Rosario, Chance Jackson, Cyrus Largie, and Lenny Ricca. This marks the second time Catto has been honored on the group after receiving the accolade last year. Overall in the last three years, 11 different players have been honored.

“This is a great honor for our players and the work they have put into their academic pursuits,” said head coach Pat Chambers. “The staff in the Hartley Academic Resource Center has done a tremendous job in working with our student-athletes and we are greatly appreciative of the support they provide.”

For Catto, this marks the most recent accolade for the returning fifth year senior. He earned his undergraduate degree this past Spring semester and was the program’s first-ever ASUN Academic All-Conference selection (2021, 2022) and also the first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection (2022).

Throughout his career, he has been honored on the NABC Honors Court, the President’s List, the Dean’s List, and the ASUN Honor Roll. Catto served last year on the Eagles Council (SAAC) as the group’s Secretary and has been a member of the E.A.G.L.E.S. Leadership Institute.

The NABC recognizes student-athletes representing the NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA Division I levels. To be named to the Honors Court, student-athletes must be in their junior or senior years academically, while holding a 3.2-or-higher cumulative grade-point-average at the conclusion of the 2021-22 season.

Over 2,000 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for 2021-22. A full list of Honors Court recipients is available by clicking here.

Ticket information for the 2022-23 season is available by calling 866-FGCU-TIX, logging on to www.FGCUTickets.com, or stopping by the Alico Arena Box Office during business hours Monday through Friday.
