Florida Gulf Coast University will travel to Boca Raton on April 14 for a mid-week baseball game against Florida Atlantic University, marking the second of four scheduled meetings between the teams this season.
The game is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on FAUSports.tv. This matchup follows their previous meeting on March 17, when FGCU won with a score of 12-4 after recording 17 hits and establishing an early lead.
Florida Atlantic currently holds a record of 17-18 and has experienced difficulties since their last encounter with FGCU, going 4-10 in that stretch. However, FAU recently secured its first American Athletic Conference series win this year and aims to build momentum before hosting Tulane later in the week.
FGCU enters the contest with a record of 21-13 after defeating Jacksonville, highlighted by Javier Gorostola hitting two home runs for the second time this season. The Eagles have shown strong offensive performance, ranking tenth nationally in total hits (393) and eleventh in batting average (.323). They also lead the Atlantic Sun Conference in earned run average.
FAU is recognized for its defensive play, ranking seventy-fifth nationally in double plays turned (26) and sixty-sixth in total hits (344). Brando Leroux stands thirty-eighth nationally with six sacrifice bunts while Marshall Lipsey’s fifteen stolen bases rank eighty-seventh nationwide.
If FGCU wins Tuesday’s game, it would even the all-time series between these teams at twenty wins each. The remaining two games between them are scheduled for April 28 and May 12 at Fort Myers.
