Cape Coral was named a 2025 Tree City of the World by the Arbor Day Foundation, according to an April 15 announcement. The recognition honors the city’s efforts to plant, grow, and maintain trees for community benefit.
This marks the second year in a row that Cape Coral has received this designation. The program highlights cities that show dedication to urban forestry and environmental stewardship.
To be recognized as a Tree City of the World, cities must meet five core standards set by the Arbor Day Foundation. These standards are designed to encourage best practices in tree management and urban forestry.
The Tree Cities of the World program is run by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization, which is part of the United Nations. More information about how cities can apply for this recognition is available through these organizations.
This ongoing acknowledgment may encourage other communities to focus on tree planting and care as part of their local initiatives.
