Dolores Menendez whose legal career in Florida spanned 43 years, died today. She was 67.

Menendez worked for the City of Cape Coral for 32 years. She was hired in 1991 as an Assistant City Attorney, and in 2001 she was promoted to City Attorney and served as such for 22 years.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce that City Attorney, Dolores Menendez passed away today,” said Mayor, John Gunter. “Our thoughts and prayers are with her daughter and the rest of her family.”

“I’d like everyone to keep Dolores and her family in your prayers. She was a caring woman who loved her family, cats and profession,” said, City Manager Michael Ilczyszyn, “and she will be missed.”

Menendez was known for her thoughtful approach on key issues in Cape Coral government and served the City of Cape Coral with dignity and respect.

We ask that you please respect the privacy of her family while they mourn their loss.
