Bucs Stay In Top 20 After Tough Weekend

0Comments

A tough weekend on the road in Utah sent the Florida SouthWestern State Buccaneers tumbling down the NJCAA National Rankings on Monday as the Bucs dropped from the #2 spot in the week one poll all the way down to #20 in week two.

The Bucs were 1-2 at the time of the poll release Monday, dropping a seven point contest against Utah State-Eastern Friday and a 72-66 battle against #19 Snow on Saturday.  FSW lost a 101-94 shootout Monday at #3 Salt Lake hours after the week two poll was released.

As expected in early season polls, the week two poll was extremely volatile with teams shooting up and down the charts. Northwest Florida was the lone team in the Top 5 to hold their spot with Indian Hills, Salt Lake, Hutchinson, and Odessa making up the new group atop the poll. The Bucs are one of five FCSAA squads in the Top 20 with Northwest Florida leading the bunch at #1, Chipola at #6, Eastern Florida at #13, Tallahassee at #18, and FSW at #20.

The Bucs will look to get back on track in their 2022-2023 home openers on Thursday and Friday as they host FSCJ and Spartanburg Methodist in the Slim Sports Invitational at Suncoast Credit Union Arena, tipping off at 7:30 both nights.
