Florida Gulf Coast reliever Ashton Pocol was named the Atlantic Sun Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, according to a May 18 announcement from the league. The recognition follows his performance in the final week of the regular season, where he secured his fifth conference save.
This award highlights Pocol’s role as a key contributor for Florida Gulf Coast. His efforts have helped position his team for success as they head into postseason play.
Pocol delivered three scoreless innings in relief during Thursday night’s game at Jacksonville, retiring nine consecutive batters and striking out four. He induced three groundouts and earned his fifth save of the season—all within conference matchups. With this achievement, he now holds 11 career saves, placing him fifth on Florida Gulf Coast’s all-time list.
The Eagles are set to begin ASUN Tournament play on Wednesday at 6 p.m., facing off against the winner of Tuesday’s Central Arkansas-Stetson game.
Looking ahead, Pocol and his teammates will seek to build on their recent successes as they compete in postseason tournament action.
