44 Florida SouthWestern student-athletes from all five teams were honored by the NJCAA, FCSAA, Suncoast and Southern Conferences for their work in the classroom this year on Monday as the group saw awards given for NJCAA All-Academic, Academic All-State, and Academic All-Conference accolades.

The largest group for the Bucs was their All-Suncoast and All-Southern Conference Academic Team honorees as 44 different student-athletes earned that award, recognizing student-athletes with a 3.00 or better GPA.

26 student-athletes doubled up in the Sunshine State, adding FCSAA Academic All-State honors to their resume by posting a GPA of 3.30 or higher.

The NJCAA released it’s Academic Student-Athlete Awards on Monday with 16 Bucs making the list. Three FSW student-athletes were named to the NJCAA  All-Academic Third Team squad, posting GPAs between 3.60 and 3.79.  Nine more student-athletes reached the next step on the podium, earning NJCAA All-Academic Second Team honors, performing to a 3.80-3.99 GPA. Four student-athletes earned the NJCAA’s top academic honor as Volleyball’s Yunju Lee, Maiana Coelho, and Julia Lawrenz were joined by Softball’s Kylee Graham as perfect 4.0 students to be named NJCAA All-Academic First Team members.

Earlier this summer two other FSW student-athletes, Fiona Baker (Volleyball) and Sterre den Duijn (Softball) earned the ultimate academic honor as they were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans.

FSW Director of Athletics George Sanders praised his student-athletes’ achievements in the classroom this season saying “we are very proud of the efforts our student-athletes put into their studies this year especially with the challenges of continuing to adjust to new learning models. The expectations on our student-athletes are very high both academically and athletically as soon as they walk in the door here at FSW and once again they answered the bell with both success on the court and the diamond, as well as in the classroom.”
